All The Rules - Book Review

Ok, I have to give Kudos to this great book that I found and read - All The Rules by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider. I really think it's a MUST READ for all women - married or single!! It's a book about all of the rules of dating - and just too wonderful not to pass on! There were things in the book that I already knew, but some of the things just really made sense too when I looked back on things in my life. And, I have to say, it even had a section about if you are already married and looking to make things better, or for teenage dating, or for single mom's dating... about anything you can think of. The premis of the book are the women's rules to follow to end up getting the guy to fall madly for you..... and let me tell you, if you have an open mind and actually try them, they do make sense.

I'm not a big one for promoting other things, but I have to say that after reading the book, I really wanted to share it with all the women possible - heck, with men the way they are, we can use all of the help we can get! And by the way, for any of those who are worried about the cost - the paperback version was only $9.99 list price, so I'm sure you can get it much cheaper on sale or with those bookstore coupons.

Fashion Mistakes

Ok, I do love fashion, but I'm definately not an "expert" in the area - which by the way, I just love What Not To Wear on TLC - Clinton and Stacy are just the best! Even though I'm not an expert, there are a few common sense issues that you would THINK everyone would know - so in case you are one of those completely fashion/hygine challenged people, here are a few hints.

First, if you have pets, please don't look like you roll around in the pet bed!! There is this wonderful invention called a Lint Roller.... or perhaps a vacuum if it's bad enough. I can't believe how many people walk around with their clothes looking like they are wearing a hairy costume... besides for not being attractive, I wouldn't think the hair would stay on the clothes while you are cooking and everything, so that means the hair ultimately winds up in what you are eating - or feeding others!

Second - and wow, now that I'm thinking about it, there are quite a few, so I'll be adding a Part 2 to the Fashion Mistakes later (due to time constraints right now!). There are also wonderful inventions called Irons and Steamers. You can buy them pretty darn cheap (or heck, ask for them for Christmas!). It just doesn't look right when you are wearing a nice shirt that looks like it was in a big balled up mess before you put it on. Trust me, I completely understand that some washing machines do strange things to clothes (mine does too!), but it's easy to fix those things and for those who don't like to iron, the Steamer is wonderful!! Just hang the item and let the steam do the work...... other little tidbits for those wrinkles - there is the wrinkle release spray, but it doesn't seem to work well on very tough wrinkles. Or, if you are low on time, a lot of materials can be hung in the bathroom while you are showering and the steam from the shower pulls most of them out - this seems to work best with polyester type things....

Third - ok, if it's too tight, it just doesn't look that good. I know how it feels to want to be that smaller size, and it's nice to be able to actually get into it, but I learned that when things are too tight, it seems to accentuate the problem areas more than helping them. And another note on that area - just because a designer makes something in a certain size, it doesn't mean that it looks right on everyone - remember, their "models" are like 75 pounds and look like they are going to break if you touch them!!

I'll do more on this stuff later - right now I have something else in mind that I want to share with everyone and I'd like for it to be on it's own blog itself....

Till then, keep checking for Part 2 of Fashion Mistakes!
